Preparations are in full swing ahead of Propak East Africa 2018. Organisers of the region’s largest exhibition and conference dedicated to the packaging industry have announced the Conference schedule.
A total of 15 conference sessions have been confirmed to take place over the course of the three-day exhibition. Hosted by industry experts, each session will be free-to-attend for all registered visitors to Propak East Africa 2018.
Opening on 27 February 2018 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi, the show itself is expected to attract more than 3500 professionals. Propak East Africa 2018 is the leading platform for trade within the packaging, plastics, printing and food processing industry boasting the biggest names in the industry as exhibitors, visitors will have the opportunity to discover market insights, cutting-edge technological developments and expertise.
This year, organisers of Propak East Africa have confirmed that the co-located conference will tackle issues currently affecting the industry. Alexander Angus, the show’s Director, commented on the recently published schedule; ‘Now, more than ever, it is vital to know the latest consumer trends, particularly with the plastic bag ban coming into place last year. This year we have focused our conference topics around these types of pertinent issues affecting the market so that our visitors and exhibitors can use it as a chance to gain insights and understand the market opportunities available to them.’
Kenya is leading the global sustainability battle alongside over 40 countries worldwide that have completely banned, partly banned or taxed single-use plastic bags, including China, France, Rwanda and Italy. The country has even more recently proposed a plastic bottle ban, further emphasising its dedication to sustainability.
In keeping with the country’s forward-thinking approach to sustainability in packaging, Propak East Africa 2018 will maintain a special focus on sustainability. Market-leading brands such as BOBST, Flint Group, Filmatic Packaging Systems, Ishida, KBA, Krones, Ramco, Bosch, Safrique, Uner Plastik A.S. and Windmoller & Holscher will be present to showcase their latest products and solutions in compliance with these new laws.
Propak’s conference will welcome senior representatives from leading brands such as KenInvest, Nielsen, The Kenyan Association of Manufacturers (KAM), Skanem Interlables, Green Africa, Halliday Finch Africa and Tropical Food Machinery SRL.
