The GAPP Print Expo Join Propak East Africa

Propak Africa is the largest industry exhibition on the continent with four exhibitions around Africa comprising Propak Africa which takes place in Johannesburg, Propak West Africa which takes place in Nigeria, Propak Cape which takes place in Cape Town and Propak East Africa which takes place in Kenya. Propak East Africa includes the co-located shows – FoodPro, ProPlas, ProPharma and Print Expo. Following on from the successful association between The GAPP Magazine and the organisers of Propak Africa, Montgomery Eco has entered into a similar arrangement which will see the print show being renamed The GAPP Print Expo East Africa. Montgomery currently runs over 60 events around the world and brings extensive knowledge of exhibition organisation to the East African market. The GAPP Magazine is a specialist trade publication serving all aspects of the printing, packaging and signage industries with a specific focus on the print elements associated with these sectors. Propak East Africa is held every two years with the next event taking place at The Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi from 7 – 9 March 2017. The last staging in 2015 attracted a total of 90 international exhibitors who presented and showcased their products at the event which was attended by more than 2200 visitors from 38 countries throughout Africa and the rest of the world. Said Exhibition Director Alexander Angus from Montgomery exhibitions, ‘Propak East Africa is a popular show and there is a lot of potential of further expansion. We have reached this agreement with Sentient Publishing which produces The GAPP Magazine as a means of attracting more exhibitors and visitors from the South African market. There is a great deal of potential in Kenya and the surrounding countries and this exhibition will give South African companies the opportunity to expand their reach.’ Exhibitors from all sectors of the industry participated at the 2015 show with both information and technology stands. Many of these exhibitors expressed how successful they felt the show had been for them. Shivern Reddy of Tadbik South Africa commented, ‘Propak East Africa 2015 was indeed a show which brought great interest in our product offering. We were able to network and lure the interests of many customers who had never seen some of the packaging that we had to offer. Definitely looking forward to exhibiting in 2017.’ Dominique Martin, Regional Commercial Director of Sidel, one of the sponsors of the show commented, ‘We are delighted to be part of an industry event such as Propak which has offered us the unique opportunity to meet and share insights with our peers and key industry players in East Africa’s beverage value chain. At the event, we showcased our latest innovations in PET packaging solutions and discussed the various options available to producers who want to design, optimise and validate their packaging for different supply chains and production conditions. We are confident that as a subsequence we will now have an even stronger foothold in the fast-developing East African market.’ Vikesh Roopchand, managing director of Sentient Publishing said, ‘The South African market is a mature one and is seen by many international players as a stepping stone into the markets north of the border. The GAPP Magazine has the largest distribution in the South African market and as such reaches a broad audience of potential exhibitors and visitors. Montgomery Exhibitions brings a wealth of knowledge in the organisation of industry events. Through our co-operation we can attract visitors and exhibitors and help South African companies to be part of the considerable growth potential that exists in East Africa.’ A number of companies active in the printing and signage sector have already signed up to exhibit at The GAPP Print Expo East Africa 2017 taking place in its own hall at The Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
