Be inspired by the Fespa Africa Education Programme

FESPA Africa will be a hive of inspirational activity 2-4 July at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg. In line with FESPA’s profit for purpose business model, the show will provide a range of educational touch-points that are designed to invigorate print solution providers and sign-makers; giving them free access to a variety of topics and deliver insight on the latest technologies, trends and business opportunities. ‘At FESPA we believe that our exhibitions are not only the chance for the community to see the latest technologies live in action and source new equipment for their business, but it is a prime opportunity to take away some new ideas and thinking that could take their business to the next level. Our educational features are there to do that and very much like the show message says, sign and graphics professionals will be able to ‘Explore new technologies and new opportunities,’ said Lorraine Harrow, FESPA Marketing Manager. Attendees can be inspired by the full programme of innovative and thrilling features available free of charge, so that they can take away ideas and knowledge to apply to their business. FESPA Africa will see participants take part in the Avery Dennison/Roland 2014 Speed Wrap Challenge, taking place daily on the exhibition floor. Contestants race against the clock with 25 minutes to wrap a vehicle door to the best standards. Individuals compete to be crowned the ultimate wrap-off champion, and the finalist wins a trip to FESPA 2015 in Cologne to take part in the FESPA World Wrap Masters Grand Final for the global title. The garment feature will be a hands-on workshop where printers can learn different techniques to decorate garments, from heat transfers, direct-to-garment (DTG) and screen printing applications including discharge and special effects, all taught by T-shirt print guru, Charlie Taublieb. With over 38 years in the industry, Charlie has experience in all aspects of the industry from designing facilities to solving technical problems. Come along and gain fantastic tips on how to take your garment decoration techniques to the next level. The Explore Technology Conference seminar theatre will be host to several sessions per day on different themes and topics from colour management and workflow, to looking at future trends in digital wide format print. The programme will be filled with industry specialists covering technical know-how, industry trends and market opportunities, as well as sessions on technologies. Plus you can join in and ask questions in the daily debate, which will ‘Explore the Issues’. As part of the Technology Conference will be ‘Explore CorelDRAW’ where visitors will be able to explore the latest version of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X7 each day of the exhibition, with additional in-depth sessions on preparing artwork for vehicle wrap and garment printing. The Rigid Paper Board Competition, supported by Graphix Supply World, together with sponsors Mimaki, Esko and Re-board, recognises excellence in point-of-purchase displays, in-store communication, and other imaginative displays using rigid paper board. Deadline for entries is 30 June 2014, with the entered pieces being judged at FESPA Africa for the title ‘Best Overall Display of the Year’.
