Smithers Pira’s food contact experts

This leading conference is a unique food contact forum, bringing together over 180 delegates to share ideas and discuss regulatory developments in food packaging. Following celebrations of the event’s 30th birthday last year, Smithers Pira is pleased to have developed another unique three-day agenda, full of up-to-the-minute insightful presentations and lively discussions. In addition they bring you once again two pre-conference workshops, one led by Smithers Pira’s food contact experts, and the other providing hands-on training with the FACET tool.

This year’s conference agenda will address all topical concerns in the food contact industry, including the latest developments in the regulation of nanomaterials, risk assessment of NIAS and best practice for multi-material and multi-layer materials. Over 24 detailed and informative presentations will be delivered by some of the world’s leading food contact experts including the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), associations CEPI, Flexible Packaging Europe, and EuPIA and legal experts Steptoe and Johnson LLP and Keller and Heckman LLP.

Smithers Pira is also pleased to bring a session dedicated to food industry perspectives on food packaging compliance, with speakers from both a brand owner and retailer; Dr Elly Spies, Manager Regulatory Affairs at Friesland Campina Consumer Products EMEA and Paul Earnshaw, Packaging Manager at Tesco, who will also take delegates’ questions on ensuring compliance in the supply chain.

On the Paper conference day, packaging companies DS Smith and MM Karton share their views on demonstrating paper based packaging compliance to European food contact regulations in the absence of a specific measure, alongside a presentation of FACET, and an evaluation of different mineral oil barriers for cardboard packed food from Fraunhofer IVV.

Networking opportunities throughout the three-day conference are unrivalled in this industry, as attendance is supported by companies from across the food contact supply chain.
