Kemtek launches first African Centre of Digital Print Excellence

On 18 March 2014, Kemtek Print Solutions will record an African first with the grand opening of a custom-built Centre of Digital Print Excellence, dedicated to promoting HP Indigo’s competencies in commercial printing, flexible packaging, folding cartons, photo speciality printing, direct mail, and label printing, as well as Duplo’s advanced automated, productive, and cost-efficient finishing systems. ‘We’re delighted to announce that our special guest and keynote speaker at the exclusive launch is none other than South African Springbok rugby legend and popular SuperSport commentator, Kobus Wiese, whose efforts on the field earned him a place in the 1995 World Cup-winning squad and a place in South African history!’ declared Group MD, Gavin van Rensburg. ‘Kemtek is a prominent industry partner to the leaders in digital printing and finishing excellence, and our team is thrilled to welcome Kobus and industry partners to our ultra-modern demonstration and VIP event centre, conveniently located at our Johannesburg head office,’ remarked Gavin. ‘While discovering the capabilities of modern digital technology and the business growth opportunities it truly presents, guests can relax and talk “shop” in a comfortable and welcoming environment!’ A special highlight of the upcoming launch is a live demonstration of the latest HP Indigo 7600 sheetfed digital press. Dubbed the fastest SRA3+ digital platform available today, it combines HP proven quality, versatility, and breakthrough productivity with new intelligent automation. Besides an impressive printing speed up to 160 colour pages per minute, the HP Indigo 7600 is capable of producing on-press raised print, digital watermarks and textured effects. Enabled by HP Indigo’s original digital offset process and liquid ElectroInk technology, printing is of the highest quality – matching or even exceeding traditional offset. The very thin ink layer delivery gives uniform gloss and accurate on-press Pantone emulations, whether a job requires four, six or seven process colours. Furthermore, the HP Indigo 7600 is compatible with more than 2500 substrates, including dark, transparent, metallic, and recycled papers, and board up to 400gsm for folding cartons. To complement the HP Indigo digital printing technology, Kemtek is also presenting a range of hi-tech Duplo finishing systems including perfect binders, slitter/cutter/creasers, booklet makers and UV coaters. ‘We’re excited to unveil a dedicated Centre of Digital Print Excellence in South Africa, where local print professionals can see and experience, in a realistic print environment, the very latest digital trend solutions that our global partners have to offer,’ commented Gavin van Rensburg. ‘During the launch, we are displaying all critical vertical markets relating to the printing industry, including flexible packaging, folding cartons, direct mail, general commercial print and photo applications. Thereafter, visitors to the Centre of Digital Print Excellence can experience the depth and flexibility offered by the end-to-end solutions developed by HP Indigo and Duplo, and collaborating companies, which have been widely adopted by the industry,’ he continues. ‘We’re already planning in-house programmes, including tailor-made demonstrations and personalised viewing sessions on the new high-speed and robust HP Indigo 10 000 digital press, plus individual product tests and educational workshops on analogue-to-digital transformation, print business management and much more,’ concluded Van Rensburg.
