Formsxpress Printing Centre, a leading provider of print and packaging solutions in Cape Town, is proud to announce its recent expansion to include the neighbouring business premises, marking its third major move since its establishment in 1992 and a significant milestone in its business journey. The move presents an exciting opportunity to expand its in-house capabilities, streamline workflow and boost productivity.
From humble beginnings with just two pack-to-pack printers and three employees in a small factory in Retreat industrial, Formsxpress has evolved into one of Cape Town’s most versatile print manufacturing facilities offering a gamut of printing services, including forms and waybill printing, wide format printing, digital printing, warehousing and premium packaging. With a team of over 130 staff and a diverse range of cutting-edge equipment, this expansion positions Formsxpress to effectively cater to the evolving needs of its customers.
Adding an extra 3000 sqm of floor space, the expansion is expected to double current operational capacity. This increased space will facilitate in the streamlining of workflow, boosting efficiency, ensuring FSC accreditation and elevating hygiene and safety standards, as it expands its food packaging capabilities.
‘In an amazing effort of efficiency and collaboration, our team was able to consolidate four factories into one space and get most machines up and running within five days,’ says Andrew Donaldson, business representative at Formsxpress. ‘This major move was accomplished using our in-house engineering and maintenance crew, with the only external team being the riggers,’ Donaldson continues.
‘A few years ago, we embarked on our journey into packaging and have gradually been increasing our capacity over time. However, due to spatial constraints, this has necessitated distributing our packaging capacities across four different locations, which has had some logistical challenges. When the opportunity arose, we purchased the neighbouring business premises at 11 Lily Road.
‘This move brings the opportunity to simplify and optimise workflow throughout the business, ensuring jobs are easier to track; that stock is housed in one single location and ultimately; that we’re able to put a new emphasis on the “xpress” in Formsxpress,‘ explains Donaldson.
As the business ventures into the food packaging sector, the new space will aid in further elevating food safety and hygiene standards by reducing the handling of goods and the time goods stand on the floor. Furthermore, the move puts Formsxpress on a long-awaited junction where it has the groundwork setup to become a fully FSC-accredited print provider, allowing it to service an ever-growing base of environmentally conscious clients.
‘Our goal is ultimately to provide our customers with a complete and convenient solution. The expansion will allow us to achieve that by having everything under one roof, ensuring end-to-end control, efficiency, and our never-ending pursuit of print excellence,’ concludes Donaldson.
